Range Rover Evoque: off-road first drive of new SUV

25 November 2018

It is assumed that the target audience will be people who are genuinely modern technology, the younger generation of drivers as well as acquiring the first Land Rover vehicles.

Also available is a windshield mounted screen to replace the rear-view mirror to give a wider-angle view behind the auto, similar to the system used by Cadillac.

The British marque has finally launched the new 2020 Evoque while the quirky SUV in its latest avatar seems to have lost some character.

At speeds below 17 km/h, the engine will shut off while the driver applies the brakes.

Despite its new looks, the Evoque isn't a wholesale seasonal shakeup for Range Rover.

'The hottest thing': Trump launches final day blitz on Democrats
Democrats are favored to win more House seats than they now have and they need an overall gain of 23 to retake the House majority. Mr Trump's Republican coalition is increasingly becoming older, whiter, more male and less likely to have a college degree.

But while this might be the "baby" Range Rover, the firm has still ensured that it's nearly as capable off-road as the rest of its range.

That would be an Evoque with a 180PS (178bhp) diesel engine, all-wheel-drive and automatic transmission.

All three diesels available overseas are mild hybrids offering 110kW-177kW and 380Nm-500Nm, while there is also a pair of turbo petrol engines. The new Evoque, though it has the same silhouette, comes with a lot of changes. It will be electrified with a 48 volt mild hybrid system from launch, followed 12 months later by a version using a three cylinder plug-in hybrid engine. It's expected that customers will receive the keys to their brand new second-generation Evoque before spring 2019.

Jaguar Land Rover is planning a new version of its Evoque SUV to be built in northern England, safeguarding production at a site where output has been squeezed by sliding sales in the run up to Brexit.

All-wheel drive and an updated version of the Active Driveline with Driveline Disconnect maintain the Evoque's off-road performance.

Packers vs. Patriots Odds: New England a Touchdown Betting Favorites
Allison had missed two games due to a concussion and hamstring injury before returning against the Los Angeles Rams last weekend. Packers cornerback Tramon Williams had a shot at a tackle, but whiffed, springing Gordon for his 55-yard touchdown.

Available technology includes Land Rover's Terrain Response 2 system, which adjusts the car's set-up depending on the surface it is driven on. The 2019 model can now wade through water up to 600mm (previously 500mm).

The interior gets a dual tone dashboard with a dual 10-inch touchscreens - The upper unit is for the infotainment system while the lower one handles the climate control and other settings.

ClearSight Rear View sees a "smart" rear-view mirror transforms into a high-definition screen at the touch of a button, by displaying a rear-facing camera feed onto the mirror, providing a wider 50-degree field of vision using a camera positioned above the rear window.

There's a clever rear view mirror that can be turned into a camera screen if sight lines are blocked by passengers or bulky items. The Evoque also comes with new technologies like the optional twin touchscreen, InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, featuring new, faster software, 16-way seat controls, and cabin air ionization.

Front suspension is looked after by commonplace MacPherson struts which have fluid-filled bushings for reduced levels of noise and vibration transmitted through to the cabin and steering, while a multilink set up takes care of the tail end.
